P2P, morpheus, limewire for xubuntu?

What p2p programs are available for xubuntu?
just a thought, would it be safer/less likely to get a virus than you would running it on a windows OS?

Ubuntu software?

I primarily use my laptop for school/music/games…the usual stuff. Also, what’s the difference between Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Edubuntu, Gobuntu, Ubuntu MID edition, and Xubuntu?

How do you install an OS on a blank HDD?

Hi! I have a crappy old dell box (P2, 64MB RAM, 10gb HDD) & a MacBook Pro. Previously I had windows ‘98 on the dell, but I wanted to try something different so downloaded Xubuntu 7.0.4. I can copy that to the HDD or a blank CD to put in the dell but when I do that, if I start it up it just says “No Operating System Found” on the screen & it repeats that every time I press a Key. I copied the hard drive of the dell to my MBP before wiping it too, but now that I restore the dells HDD to its’ original way it still says “No OS Found” when I put it back in (I’m using an external firewire enclosure w/ my MBP).
So can anyone tell me how can I get Wins ‘98 or Xubuntu onto this thing?
(I also have the original (not pirated) install disks for Wins Me but not the rego key & I’ve tried about 5 other rego keys which haven’t worked after installing Wins Me)

Will creating a Linux partition resolve a Master Boot Record issue for a HDD with Windows ME installed?

I Accidentally Screwed up my 80 Gig HDD with Windows ME. It seems i deleted my Master Boot Record. I have repeatedly tried to use “Fdisk /MBR” to repair the problem, but the command doesn’t seem to do anything. I can access all of my files using the DOS on my boot disk, but Windows still won’t boot up. I can, however, boot up Xubuntu using a live CD. If I Use the Xubuntu Install to disk feature, it gives me the option to create a new partition. Would Creating a new partition, and installing Linux Create a new MBR? Would that help get Windows ME going again? or would that only compound the problem?

How can i boot from a cd on my mac g3 ?

Im trying to load xubuntu (linux) onto my mac. But it wont boot! (ive bruned the image onto a cd) but when the computer fully loads it accepts the cd as a cdr.
The problem is i cant get it to boot. I’ve held the the ‘c’ and ‘d’ keys, it wont boot from the cd!
I have a mac powerbook G3 (ppc), adn trying to load xubuntu 7.10.
haha lol, xubuntu allows you to burn it so all disks made are legal

She’s not very internet savy and windows xp was slowing her system down very badly, and we dont want to invest anymore money into upgrading it so I figured throw a lighter linux os on it, i’ve been looking at xubuntu and GOS (cant find the hardware specs. for google OS) I know both of them will run fine on it but which one would run better and faster??? I was going to put open office on it to so she can deal with word docs. etc. she gets as attachments
