Xubuntu cannot load the graphical desktop. (Xfce or something.) It goes into Text mode?
Sameh asked:
What I did was. I put the hard drive from my old computer into the new one (old one had no CDROM). I disconnected the original HDD from the new one… someone told me it was necessary.
From there I booted the Xubuntu LiveCD and installed Xubuntu, and then spent a pretty 2 hours configuring it.
When I put the HDD back into the old computer, It refuses to boot in graphical mode because of some configuration error.
My old computer meets the system requirements.
Any help?

Will This Wireless card work with ubuntu?
majickalmind asked:
I’m getting ready to make the switch to Ubuntu, and thought it would be a good idea to check all the system requirements. Every thing seems to be compatible, but I’m unclear if the wireless card in my laptop will be detected automatically or not as I have read some are not. I’m using the Intell R pro set 2100 3a mini PCI adapter. Any insight in this matter would be helpful, Thanks in advanced!

I want to install Kubuntu on an old computer that only has 262 ram and a 2 gig hard drive, but..?
Pilgrim asked:
6.06 Dapper Drake recommends system requirements of 383 ram and a 3 gig hard drive.
I can’t seem to find a previous version of Kubuntu that will work on this machine.
Is there a Kubuntu os I can download that will work on my sys, or can you recommend another K environment os?
Thanks!

what is the best Linux distro for an old crap computer?
andrewxa9 asked:
I have an old Windows ME machine that I want to put Linux on. It’s got 128mb of RAM and a P3 processor @ about 1 Ghz.
I DO NOT want a live CD Linux, I have plenty of those that work.
I have tried and failed at getting these distros to install: Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Mint, and TurboLinux.
Is there a good non-live CD distro that has very small system requirements?

Xubuntu?
Steve asked:
I tried installing xubuntu on my old emachines T1840, but it was painfully slow. I was looking through videos on youtube and saw this video:http://youtube.com/watch?v=lfynuxypzoo…..
This guy has a worse processor, the same ram, and a better video card and xubuntu is running amazingly on it.
I used the newest version of xubuntu, so I’m wondering if the new on has higher system requirements than the older versions. Do you think I’d have better luck installing an older version of xubuntu?
Oh and my computer specs are:
celeron 1.8GHz processor
128 mb of ram
