Intrepid Ibex How to mount /dev/sda2? and Get windows to register my D partition?
tempy asked:
Okay so I have a 3 partition system, and for some reason, Windows won’t sense my D partition and Ubuntu won’t register my /dev/sda2. Those 2 partitions are obviously the same one but for some reason Windows won’t pickup on the D partition being there. Also, how do I mount a drive in Ubuntu.
It is an XP/Intrepid laptop, the D drive is formatter to fat32 the windows partition (c) is formatted to NTFS, and IDK what the Ubuntu partition is formatted to. Please Help.
also, if anyone knows why, when I jiggle the window in Intrepid I get lines across my screen for a brief sec. and how I could fix it.

How can I access Windows files from Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy, Windows installation version?
hehoff234 asked:
I did not do an ext3 install - I did the NTFS install from the Windows installation that was available for the first time in Ubuntu 8.04. I used to have an ext3 install, with Ubuntu 7.10, and my windows partition was available in Places->Computer. With my installation, the Windows partition is no longer visible.

Uninstall Kubuntu OS?
BG asked:
OK this is my problem. I currently installed kubuntu over my windows vista, and that wiped both of my hard drives. I’ve been searching the web for the past 4 days trying to figure this out. I absolutely despise kubuntu. It’s just not for me. If you can tell me how to uninstall kubuntu I would appreciate it very very much. Just to let you know, I’v tryed booting my pc with my vista installation cd but the kubuntu installation formated my hard drives to some other type. Vista requires NTFS or something like that. I also tryed typing “fixmbr” in the cmd , but that did no good either. Please help. Thanx

How to install Windows on Linux machine?
Saytr asked:
I have a PC running with Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron. Before I installed Hardy Heron, I was running on Windows Vista Home Premium. And then Vista messed up with my Hard Drive and suddenly I couldn’t boot up the computer. Then I installed Ubuntu. I tried to install Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows 98 but they kept telling me to run chdisk even though I have Ubuntu and not Windows. I even tried changing the formats to NTFS, ext2, ext3, and FAT but still they dont work. I was told that maybe it was my SATA Hard Drive causing the failure of the installation and was also told that to always try it on NTFS, but I’m not sure…. Any help please??? Thanks a lot

Installing Ubuntu OS. have questions, need answers?
Matt asked:
Laptop is a Gateway currently running Windows XP on a 80 gig NTFS with a 10 gig FAT32 Partition. AMD Chip
I have already downloaded the CD for Ubuntu Xubuntu and Kubuntu, have not decided yet wich one I want as a second experimental OS (experimental because I have never used either) I am only familiar with OS X and Windows. I have never had dual operating systems and want to get this right the first time. I have already backed up all of my files onto an External Hard drive and can always reload windows from a clean start if necessary if all fails. I am unsure if I can load any of the Ubuntu OS’s onto a NTFS formatted drive is this possible or do I have to place it onto the FAT32… if so how do I partitian more space onto my FAT32 Partition. Or am I going about this all wrong? Let me know.

How can I mount an NTFS hard drive on startup in Ubuntu?
bluetrumpet07 asked:
I want to be able to access NTFS shortcuts from my Windows hard drive on startup instead of them having the blue X on them and me having to open the NTFS media to get them working.
I am already able to do it, but it’s not enabled on start up, I have to open the 52.3GB Media manually before I can use the shortcuts I have already created.
Recognizing a FAT32 (free space) partition in Ubuntu?
Tri N asked:
More specifically, I have Xubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron).
I would usually ask the question to the Ubuntu forums, but today somehow I can’t connect to the site.
I have XP/Xubuntu dual boot. 3 different partitions. XP (NTFS), Xubuntu (No swap), and 8gb of free space (FAT32). I created the free space in case i want documents to be shared between XP and linux. The XP reads the free space. Unfortunately, the linux doesn’t.
How can I get Xubuntu to recognize the partition?
Please email me if you need to ask me more questions.Thank you sooooo much in advance.
Please no smartass comments about XP is better or Linux is better. They are good operating systems in their own right.
Sinc,
TN
