How can I install Windows XP on an Ubuntu, Linux OS?
biohazard asked:
It’s me again. I inserted the XP installer cd then restarted the system. On the start-up the screen says, “PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD…”, but that doesn’t work. i repeated it several times but ubuntu doesn’t seem to respond whenever i am pressing a key to boot from cd. ubuntu is just starting the system without booting.
any help?

Okay, I have a computer (obviously) with an internet connection (no waaay!) About two years ago, my mom got fed up with having a computer in the hallway soooo! we moved the computer upstairs and hooked up our pre-existing DSL connection to a wireless thingy. SO now we have the same computer and the same ISP, just with a wireless connection in between.
******** okay, here comes the important stuff >__<
Oh yeah one last thing, this has happened with all the Linux OS’s I’ve ever used (Sabayon, Mint, Bianca, SUSE, etc…) and on both of the wireless devices I’ve had (FON and Netgear)

Chris Smith asked:
my mom has and 800mhz intel celeron proccessor and 256 mb of pc133 ram which linux os would be best xubuntu or google’s os GOS. She’s not very internet savy and windows xp was slowing her system down very badly, and we dont want to invest anymore money into upgrading it so I figured throw a lighter linux os on it, i’ve been looking at xubuntu and GOS (cant find the hardware specs. for google OS) I know both of them will run fine on it but which one would run better and faster??? I was going to put open office on it to so she can deal with word docs. etc. she gets as attachments

How do I Install Ubuntu or Xubuntu onto and old computer?
Speak asked:
I have an old virus-ridden computer running windows 98, how do i re-image (or erase, not entirely sure of the terminology) and re-install it with a Linux OS?
I’ve tried it the way the first guy says to do it, it dosent work, it gives me a bunch of errors, they say “end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, 1207326″ and Buffer I/O eroor on device sr0, Logical block 301833″ a lot of variations of those two.
Here are the specs:
20GB hard drive, 64 mb SyncD RAM (not sure what that means, then it says 256 Max RAM. Intel Celeron Processor.

What are the benefits of SUSE Linux and Ubuntu? Which is better for Linux newbies to start with?
asked:
I’m going to be installing Linux on my PC in the very near future as either a dual boot or a fresh install after I backup my important files. I have read a lot on both SUSE and Ubuntu Linux. Please help me by informing me which is best for Linux newbies. I have read volumes on both, but am having a difficult time deciding which would be the easiest for me to get into since this will be my first Linux OS.

Which Linux OS?
Steve asked:
I’m looking for something really lightweight and fast, but also suitable for running as my main OS.
So no Damn Small Linux, Feather Linux, etc.
I’ve tried xubuntu and it ran pretty good, but I want something a little lighter. I love Ubuntu and ubuntu-based distros, but it seems to be one of the more bloated Linux OS’s

Dork with Questions asked:
I have windows Vista. However, I have a partition with Linux ubuntu on it. I want to download celebrity sex tapes, just for fun! I’m a girl, so obviously I am not going to jack off to them! But I wanna know if I used limewire on ubuntu, and it was a virus made for windows, would it harm my computer, if I was using the Linux OS?
