how to run xp on Ubuntu 8.04 - the Hardy Heron ?

i have xp on a ntfs partion and ubuntu on a ext3 if this helps my problem is that i want to run a few programs in xp i have tried wine but it dosent work so i need help booting my xp in ubuntu

How do I connect Ubuntu to internet?

I’m using a Dell Wireless 1450 Wireless Adapter with Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron. I used ndiswrapper to install the drivers, but Ubuntu still will not see the network when I open System > Administration > Network. I tried some stuff that I saw and now Network won’t even show Wireless Connection and doesn’t allow me to click on “Unlock”. I’ve searched Google for help but can’t find anything.
V - I have rebooted the computer with the wireless adapter installed but it still won’t connect or anything.

Ubuntu 8.04 problems I really need HELP?

Ok so i installed the new Ubuntu Hardy Heron (8.04) and i used WUBI. The Installation was completed sucessfully and asked me to reboot. So i rebooted and from the ‘Dual boot’ i went down and selected Ubuntu
after that it started loading for about 1 sec and went straight into a black screen and says EXACTLY as follows:

I tryed and typed init 5 and nothing happend NOW IT GOES TO THE LOADING UBUNTU AND IT GOES FOR ABOUT 5 seconds and after that IT STOPS on the 2 bar ALMOST 3rd
Could anyone please help me setup Ubuntu (Hardy Heron) to work with my airport extreme?

ok, hopefully there are some linux gurus out in cyberspace who could help me with my wireless woes. this help would be greatly appreciated. to summarize:
1) i am running hardy heron 8.04 on a mac g4
2) my wireless connection is an airport extreme (WPA2 encrypted)
3) the wireless network functions perfectly on my other mac computers running osx (not ubuntu)
4) wired internet connections work without any problems with my ubuntu computer.

Ipod Classic and Ubuntu Hardy?

I’ve already done research into the matter and this is just a curiosity question, for those who may have more insight into this. I’m running Ubuntu Hardy Heron (8.04) and I’m considering getting an iPod Classic. I use Rhythmbox music player for importing my songs as mp3 using LAME, and I have installed gtkpod for the album artwork issue that people seem to have in my research. I’m asking this to see if i can get a direct response from people that have used the classic in ubuntu…if it’ll really work out the box or do i have to first set it up with itunes in windows to get the FAT32 file system set up, or other recommendations of any kind. I’m getting mixed results in my research, and mixed feelings about getting an ipod because of it. I don’t really want to use windows or OS X because i love ubuntu (especially since its free :D) and i really like ipods and always planned on getting on.

Oh, and I’ve also tried to install iTunes on my system using WINE windows emulator to see if it would work…that didnt quite work out the way i had wished it too O.o
yea…at first i used ogg vorbis…but i decide to reimport everything as mp3 to try to get the ipod classic becasue rockbox software i was considering using isnt compatable with the classic…and im from south louisiana….there are no apple stores around here….lol

install ubuntu on a computer that has no os?

Linux (Ubuntu) question, dual booting?

Hello, I’ve been playing around with Ubuntu for a bit from the live cd and want to dual boot it with XP. If I use the guided option on the installer it says there’s not enough space for a partition or something. If I go into manual it says there’s 8MB free space and the rest (39999MB) is ‘unknown’. I know there is at least 25 GB free space on the hard drive. Any ideas for how to solve this? (Ubuntu version is Hardy Heron). Thanks

UBUNTU 8.4 DISPLAY HELP?

I recently installed hardy heron on my computer. I have an Nvidia 7300 GEFORCE graphics card driver installed. My only issue is that my screen is 32 inches, with a native resolution of 1366 X 768 but my res only goes up to 1280 x 720. Apparently i need to disable EDID but how? When i try to edit xorg config, gedit comes up blank! PLEAS HELP!
