Go over to the Ubuntu Forums, there are known issues with Ubuntu and wireless and there are extensive forum posts there on things to try to help get it going.
Ubuntu isn’t that great at supporting wireless for some reason.
Please post the contents of your /etc/network/interfaces file. You are looking for something like #WLAN auto wlan0 iface wlan inet dhcp
also do you see anything returned with: > lspci | grep wlan ?

You are looking for something like
#WLAN
auto wlan0
iface wlan inet dhcp
also do you see anything returned with:
> lspci | grep wlan
?
