How do I replace wireless drivers under Ubuntu Linux?

Derek B asked:

How do I go about replacing all the wireless NIC drivers used by Intrepid Ibex with the ones used by Hardy Heron? Is it even possible? I know it has something to do with kernel modules, but I don’t know which ones or how to replace them.

  1. Compiz-git guru Says:

Here is the Official Ubuntu Wireless Documentation

    LUg.

  2. Slacker Says:

Not sure if that’s possible, you could try just compiling an older kernel.

Why do you want to do this?

Did you lose support for your wireless card when you upgraded to Intrepid?

If so, you might want to consider using Linux Mint 5. It’s based on Ubuntu Hardy so it should support your wireless card, and when Linux Mint 6 comes out (which will be based on Ubuntu Intrepid) all the new features will be added to it

Its impossible to do anything with Linux

You slave for 3 months to get it working properly, then they release a new iteration and you have to do the whole damn thing again!

Sod that for a game of soldiers, I’ll take Windows XP anyday.
